The Women's Amutot Initiative allocates funds from the Greater Miami Jewish Federation’s annual campaign to organizations in Israel that empower women to improve Israeli society through social, economic, religious, and political equality. The Initiative focuses on organizations that aim to create social change in the following areas:
- Protection of Women against Violence - enabling women to live a life without physical or sexual abuse
- Economic Empowerment - enabling women to achieve long term economic security in Israel; providing women with increased access, opportunity and information to advance their own and their family’s long-term economic sustainability
- Social Empowerment, integration and equality - enabling women to develop a sense of autonomy and self-confidence; advancing the status of women in Israel, including advocacy and legislative protection, women’s rights in the workplace, and issues of personal status
- Leadership Development - enabling women to have opportunities to enhance their leadership and acquire the skills needed to become leaders
The Women’s Amutot Initiative will not fund loan repayments, scholarships, sponsorships, or capital projects. Multiple requests from an organization will not be accepted.
We accept applications for either general operating support or program grants; they will be considered equally. Our goal is to support organizations with a strong representation of women at the leadership and board level. Organizations and projects should be able to demonstrate the way in which they can create systemic change.
